Cat Ladies takes the audience into the strange world of multiple cat ownership. Following a quartet of women who rebuff the label 'crazy cat ladies', the film focuses on their lives, their stories and the reasons behind their relationships with their many, many feline friends. From the anxious through to the mind boggling, the film traces the women's path from over zealous pet owner to cat lover to cat obsessive to cat hoarder. Examining loneliness, social ostracism and obsession, Cat Ladies offers a journey into what is an unfamiliar world to most of us.
Resisting the opportunity to simply present its subjects as wacky or quirky, Cat Ladies lets the women talk for themselves, offering a unique and moving insight into this unusual phenomenon.
